Prospect High School has approximately 510 students from grades 7 to 12 and is situated in the city of Launceston, Tasmania.
Our decision making and behaviour is influenced by the Department of Education’s values of aspiration, respect, courage and growth and our school beliefs of respect, integrity, fairness, empathy and optimism. Our supportive and inclusive school culture is underpinned by the principles of positive behaviour support.
Our mission statement is, 'preparing students for the world of their time' and this is elaborated upon in the school's vision statement.
Our school symbol is the eagle, and our uniform is based on the colours of green and gold.
All students are expected to wear their uniform with pride and represent the school positively in the community. Our teachers currently use a combination of the Australian Curriculum and the Tasmanian Curriculum depending upon the subject being taught.
Prospect High School was established in 1965 and has a long tradition of achievement across all endeavours.
Our schools' classrooms include specialised Art, Dance/Drama, Music and Gymnasium facilities which contributed to a modern, comfortable and safe environment that fosters ownership and enables quality teaching and learning to occur in a 21st century learning environment.
In 2022 we will continue to uphold our traditions but also challenge our school community to continually strive for improvement and excellence as we enter a new cycle of our four-year strategic plan with a focus on "Quality Teaching", "Quality Learning" and "Connectedness."
